Zobera Rahman Linu

Zobera Rahman Linu is a famous Bangladeshi table tennis player. She is the only one Bangladeshi sportswoman to have her name listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Linu is a national Goodwill Ambassador in Bangladesh working for UNICEF.

Zobera Rahman Linu was born on June 9 in Kaptai. She grew up in Sylhet at Shahzibazar though her home district is in Khulna. From Rosulpur school of Narsingdi she passed SSC. She completed her HSC from Lalmatia Girls College in Dhaka City. She completed BA from here. She got her Master’s degree in psychology from Jagannath University College.

When Zobera Rahman Linu was eight years old she started playing. It was her hobby. In 1974, her hobby turned into a developed aim. Her father was confident about her and her sister to contribute on a Table Tennis Championship in 1974. She became runners up with her sister becoming first. She stood championship in singles, doubles and mixed doubles in 1977. This year was most successful year for her. She won 16 national championships during 1979 to 2001. This is the best period ever in any country in the world. She stood 5 th in Asian Table Tennis Championship in 1980. It took place in Japan.

In the individual category Linu has won sixteen times the national table tennis championships. It is the most by any competitor in any country of the world. Her name recorded in the Guinness Book after the registration. Linu has been rewarded a gold medal by Sheikh RusselKrirachakra. She has got lifetime membership from Mariners Club. Zobera Rahman is now writing her memoirs and working as the General Secretary of bahani. Amar BashantaDeen on of the four books of her is very interesting. Table tennis has not given her money but a lot of status and honor by which she is happy.
